String Instruments

A broadly-based instrumental training is offered in this institute by the teachers of bowed string instruments (violin, viola, cello and double bass) and those of the plucked instruments (guitar, harp, dulcimer (Hackbrett) and zither.
The variety of courses on offer ranges from an exploration of the basics and origins of the instruments, via a study of the pedagogical aspects of instrumental teaching to the highest professional standards of performance.

Our students are involved in numerous co-operation projects, for example with the Bruckner Orchestra Linz and the Upper Austrian Music School network. In this way young musicians are offered attractive opportunities to make important professional contacts at an early stage, while they are still studying. In addition, teachers and students are involved on an equal footing in chamber music projects at the Bruckner University and in cultural activities in the whole region.
