The Anton Bruckner University is one of seven Austrian Universities for Music, Drama and Dance, and one of four universities in Linz. 850 students from all parts of the world study here. They are taught by 200 Professors and teaching staff, who are internationally recognised artists, academics and teachers.
Courses of study, research and performance are offered by the 12 Institutes of the Bruckner University. The following pages give an insight into the various activities of these Institutes.
The Bruckner University sees its role both in artistic, performing, pedogogical and academic education and in the development, promotion and communication of the arts.
The university library of the Anton Bruckner Private University for music, dance and drama is the largest music library in Upper Austria. The inventory runs to over 100,000 items which support and sustain research and teaching at the university. The majority of items are available for borrowing.
With more than 500 events, among them chamber and orchestral concerts, plays, dance and jazz performances and concerts of contemporary music as well as lectures and discussions, the Bruckner University is one of the region's largest organizers and presenters of cultural events.

„Warum kann man im Theater so gut Witze über Arme machen? – Weil sie sich die Karten eh nicht leisten können.“ Nichts läge der Hospizclownin Svenja eigentlich ferner als solche Bösartigkeiten. Und doch entfahren sie ihr immer häufiger. Dabei will sie, die linke Kulturschaffende, die Welt doch zu einem besseren Ort machen, angefangen bei ihrer Heimatstadt Blinden. Ihre Methoden der Wahl: der von ihr entwickelte „Humornismus“, eine Mischung aus Humor und Humanismus, und ein – derzeit noch spärlich frequentierter – Videoblog. Der Don, die fiese, neoliberale Abspaltung Svenjas, ergreift jedoch mehr und mehr Besitz von ihr. Und im selben Maß wächst plötzlich auch die Anzahl ihrer Follower. Aber ob sie damit auch Püppi, die altlinke Hospizbewohnerin für sich gewinnen kann, die eine Nachfolge für ihr Arbeitercafé „Zur Goldenen Möwe“ sucht? Denn da ist ja auch noch Aram, der „Dienstleistungsproletarier“, der ihr mit seinem Migrationshintergrund gewaltig die Tour vermasseln könnte.
Die Schauspielerin, Autorin und Regisseurin Nora Abdel-Maksoud wurde 2017 vom Fachmagazin Theater heute zur Nachwuchsregisseurin des Jahres gekürt. Erfrischend leicht und jenseits aller Political Correctness verhandelt sie in ihren Satiren große Themen. Mit ihrem sensationell ehrlichen Café Populaire entlarvt sie unseren alltäglichen Klassismus – Vorurteile und die damit einhergehende Diskriminierung aufgrund der sozialen Herkunft.
