Die "Historia Der Freuden- und Gnadenreichen Geburth Gottes und Marien Sohnes, JESU CHRISTI, Unsers Einigen Mitlers, Erlösers und Seeligmachers" entstand als Licht-blick aus den Trümmern des Dreißigjährigen Kriegs - seither gilt die Weihnachtshistorie von Heinrich Schütz als erstes bedeutendes Weihnachtsoratorium und als Inbegriff musikalischer Gestaltung der Weihnachtsbotschaft.
Zusammen mit Charpentiers In Nativitatem Canticum erklingt die Weihnachtshistorie
