Wir trauern um Prof. Peter Paul Kaspar

Er war von 1992 bis 2008 am Konservatorium bzw. der Universität als Lehrender im Institut für Theorie und Geschichte beschäftigt. Paul Kaspar war ein außergewöhnlich vielseitig interessierter und begabter Mensch, der diese vielen Begabungen gleichermaßen begeistert wie begeisternd mit seiner Umwelt geteilt hat und dem die umfassende kulturelle Bildung und Förderung der Jugend ein echtes Herzensanliegen war. Als Organist, als Rektor der Linzer Ursulinenkirche und als Künstler- und Akademikerseelsorger der Diözese Linz sowie durch seine Tätigkeit als Autor war er mit Alumni über deren Studium hinaus und mit Lehrenden beruflich und freundschaftlich verbunden. In seiner Einflusssphäre hat er stets dafür gesorgt, dass viele unserer Studierenden Auftrittsmöglichkeiten bekommen und musikalische Kontakte und Freundschaften knüpfen. Sein Wirken strahlt bis heute in die Linzer Musikszene aus, und die Bruckner Universität wird seiner stets ehrend gedenken.

The Bruckner University mourns the loss of Prof. Peter Paul Kaspar, who died in Vienna on the night of 21-22 April 2024 at the age of 82. He was a lecturer in the Department of Theory and History at the Conservatory and the University from 1992 to 2008. Paul Kaspar was an exceptionally versatile and talented person who shared his many talents with those around him with enthusiasm, and for whom the comprehensive cultural education and promotion of young people was a matter close to his heart. As an organist, rector of the Ursuline Church in Linz and pastor to artists and academics in the diocese of Linz, as well as through his work as an author, he was professionally and amicably connected with alumni beyond their studies and with University faculty. In his sphere of influence, he always ensured that many of our students had opportunities to perform and made musical contacts and friendships. His influence still radiates into the Linz music scene today, and the Bruckner University will always honor his memory.
