Special grant for Erasmus+ participants with child(ren)

In order to complement the existing Erasmus+ grants for study visits or traineeships for students with child(ren) who wish to participate in the Erasmus+ Programme, a special grant funded by the BMWFW and BMBF can be applied for at the National Agency Erasmus+ Education.

This grant contributes to the additional costs incurred in the context of mobility. The term additional costs refers to the comparison between the study or work situation at home, respectively at the home institution, and the situation in the host country and at the host higher education institution - these are in particular childcare costs and travel costs.

If approved, applicants who take their children abroad as part of the Erasmus+ mobility will receive a lump sum of EUR 120,- per month for the first child. For the second and third child, the lump sum is increased by EUR 30,- per month.

People with a disability or chronic illness can apply to the National Agency for a special grant to cover the additional costs incurred during an Erasmus+ stay abroad.

The funding for this is provided by the European Union and is earmarked for Erasmus+ study mobilities (SMS), traineeships (SMT) and teaching and training mobilities for higher education staff (STA, STT).
