Das Orgelstudium an der Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität ist von großer Vielfalt bestimmt. Zum Studium der Orgelliteratur von der Gotik bis zum heutigen Tag kommen die Fächer Orgelimprovisation und Orgelbaukunde hinzu. Es wird darauf Wert gelegt, dass Studierende Generalbass und je nach Eignung auch das Spiel historischer Tasteninstrumente erlernen, damit sie im späteren Berufsleben auch als gefragte BegleiterInnen bestehen können.

Der künstlerische Einzelunterricht wird sowohl an der Universität als auch in Linzer Kirchen (Martin Luther Kirche, Minoritenkirche u.a.) abgehalten. Klassenabende finden an verschiedenen Orten des Bundeslandes statt, wobei Repertoire (solistisch und Kammermusik) und Instrument aufeinander abgestimmt werden. Der nahezu einzigartige Schatz an wertvollen, restaurierten historischen Instrumenten Oberösterreichs (etwa 1620 bis 1920) und historisierenden Nachbauten kommt dabei zur Geltung.

Workshops und Referate von in- und ausländischen DozentInnen bringen den jungen OrganistInnen wertvolle Impulse von außen.

Aktivitäten 2010:

• Gastdozenten Andrés Cea Galan (Sevilla, E) und Christopher Stembridge (Kosmopolit) im Rahmen der ausgesprochen erfolgreichen ‘Fiesta Espanola’ (17.-21.Mai, 2010: Orgel, Cembalo, Musiktheorie, Kammermusik).

Aktivitäten 2011:

• Massimiliano Raschietti (Verona, I) Kurs über Orgeltechnik
• David Rumsey (Basel, CH): Weltephilharmonie-Orgelrollen des Musikautomatenmuseums Seewen und Aufführungspraxis der Romantik.

Alljährlich finden Orgelausflüge statt. Ziel ist es, die StudentInnen mit den wichtigsten Orgeltypen Europas (Frankreich, Italien, Norddeutschland, Mitteldeutschland und Spanien) vertraut zu machen. Vergangene Orgelreisen führten nach Toulouse (F, 2008), Thüringen (D, 2009) und Ponte in Valtellina (I, 2010).

Organ studies at the Anton Bruckner Private University are characterized by great diversity. The study of organ repertoire from the middle ages to the present day is supplemented by tuition in improvisation and the history of organ-building. We place emphasis on the acquisition of skills in figured bass realization and, depending upon students’ aptitudes, early keyboard instruments, so that in later professional life they may fulfil their rôles as accompanists.

Main study tuition takes place both at the University and in churches in the city of Linz (i.a. Martin Luther Church, Minorite Church). Class concerts are held in various parts of the State of Upper Austria, whereby repertoire (both solo and chamber music) and instrument are adapted to one another. In so doing, our enviable - virtually unique - wealth of historic organs (ca.1620 to 1920) and period copies are presented to the public.

Workshops and lectures by distinguished colleagues from Austria and abroad offer students important outside input.

• Andrés Cea Galan (Seville) and Christopher Stembridge (cosmopolitan) in the course of the highly successful ‘Fiesta Espanola’ (17th.-21st. May: organ, harpsichord, music theory, chamber music).

• Massimiliano Raschietti (Verona, I): course on organ technique.
• David Rumsey (Basle, CH): Weltephilharmonie organ rolls from the Seewen Museum for Mechanical Musical Instruments and the performance practice of the romantic period.

Each year, we conduct organ study excursions. Our aim is to acquaint students with the principal organ landscapes of Europe (France, Italy, North Germany/Netherlands, Central Germany, Spain). Recent excursions have taken us to Toulouse (F, 2008), Thuringia (D, 2009) and Ponte in Valtellina (I, 2010).

The Anton Bruckner Private University offers bachelor’s (BA) and master’s (MA) degrees majoring in organ (both pedagogical and performance strands) within the Keyboard Institute (TAS) and that of Early Music (ALT).
